🌊 After Oppenheimer, Nolan Goes Mythic
Three years after Oppenheimer swept the Oscars and redefined what a blockbuster could be, Christopher Nolan is back. And this time, he has not chosen a scientist, a soldier, or a spy as his subject. He has chosen a god-defying Greek king on a 10-year journey home — and he has assembled half of Hollywood to tell that story on the largest canvas in cinema history.
The Odyssey opens in theaters and IMAX everywhere on July 17, 2026. And the anticipation surrounding this film has reached a level that very few movies in recent history have managed to generate before release.
🎭 The Cast — Half Of Hollywood In One Film
Nolan has assembled what may be the single most star-studded cast of the 21st century. Every name attached to this film is an event in itself — and together, they form an ensemble that feels almost impossibly powerful.

🎥 Shot On Brand New IMAX Technology — A True Once-In-A-Generation Event
The Odyssey is not just the biggest movie of 2026. It is a technical landmark.
Nolan shot the entire film using brand new IMAX film technology — making it the first blockbuster in history to be shot completely on IMAX cameras. The film was produced across locations in Morocco, Italy, Greece, Iceland and the United Kingdom, capturing landscapes of breathtaking scale and mythological grandeur.
IMAX 70mm tickets for opening weekend have already been selling out globally, with resale seats fetching thousands of dollars on secondary platforms. A leaked third trailer spotlighting Penelope, Telemachus and new monsters only intensified the already volcanic excitement surrounding the July 17 release.

💬 Nolan On The Pressure Of Adapting Homer
In interviews ahead of the release, Nolan has been unusually candid about the weight of what he has taken on. He acknowledged that anyone who adapts The Odyssey is "taking on the hopes and dreams of people for epic movies everywhere" — and that the responsibility that comes with that is immense.
He also revealed that he had briefly been attached to the story of Troy decades earlier, and had felt out of his depth at the time. "The Odyssey is a sweeping story," he said. "I think I needed to build on what I learned doing large-scale films to be able to make this film." Twenty years and multiple masterpieces later, he is finally ready.
The Odyssey arrives on July 17. The world is watching.
